Carolina Beach State Park - With a marina providing access to some of North Carolina’s best fishing spots and miles of hiking trails that traverse a variety of distinct habitats–not to mention the presence of the Venus flytrap, one of the world’s most unique carnivorous plants–it’s no wonder Carolina Beach State Park is a popular coastal attraction. Visit Carolina Beach State Park to relax, enjoy nature or embark on an eye-opening adventure.
Fort Fisher Historic Site - Until the last few months of the Civil War, Ft. Fisher kept North Carolina’s port of open to blockade runners supplying necessary goods to Confederate armies inland. By 1865, the supply line through Wilmington was the last remaining supply route open to Robert E. Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia. All tours of the grounds begin in the visitor center. This recently renovated facility contains an audiovisual program that presents the history of the fort. The North Carolina Underwater Archaeology headquarters is also located on the property.
North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher - Plan to visit the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher and discover a hidden island treasure. Be sure to tour the shark exhibit, dolphin discovery and visit the loggerhead sea turtle display. Most visitors can tour the aquarium in about two hours.
Tony Silvagni Surf School - Surfing is a way of life on the Southern North Carolina coastline. A love of the outdoors and a passion for the ocean is shared by the entire staff of the Tony Silvagni Surf School. The surf camp runs throughout the months of April, May, June, July, August, & September with week-long morning & afternoon surf camps at Kure Beach, Carolina Beach, & Wrightsville Beach.
